For independent museum entry, use Viale Vaticano. For a tour, use the meeting point on your confirmation. St. Peter’s Square is a different starting location, on the Basilica side.
For independent museum entry: Viale Vaticano
The official museum address is Viale Vaticano. Save the entrance rather than a general Vatican City pin. The square in front of St. Peter’s is not the museum ticket entrance.

For a tour: follow the voucher
A hosted ticket or guided visit may start at a café, office or street meeting point before museum entry. Going straight to the venue can mean missing the host. Read the street number, landmark, required arrival margin and contact instructions.
If the voucher is an exchange document rather than the final entry ticket, complete that step first. Keep an offline copy and the supplier contact number available.
For the Basilica: approach from the square
Plan the Basilica as a separate approach and security process. Unless the selected tour explicitly confirms a connecting route, budget for the outdoor walk around the walls. A map’s straight-line distance through Vatican buildings is not a usable public route.
Build in a navigation buffer
Allow extra time when arriving with luggage, children or limited mobility. Cross-check the meeting point with the booking confirmation before following a general map result. If delayed, contact the supplier; the attraction’s ticket desk may not manage third-party bookings.
Save three separate pieces of information
Keep the attraction address, the supplier’s meeting point and the booked start time as separate entries in your plan. They may refer to different places and moments. Share the meeting point, not just the attraction name, with anyone joining you.
If using a taxi or a map app, choose the address on the confirmation and check which side of the walls it is on. On arrival, identify the host or office described by your supplier before joining a general venue line.
A little clarity
Your questions, answered.
Is St. Peter’s Square the Museums entrance?
No. The Vatican Museums visitor entrance is on Viale Vaticano.
Should I meet my guide at the museum gate?
Only if your confirmation says so. Many products use a nearby office, café or other meeting point.
